Originally published in the 1884 edition of the "The Fisheries and Fishery Industries of the United States", this reproduction print of the Red-Fish, or Bass of the South, was drawn by H.L. Todd. It was part of the first book in a multi-volume series produced by George Brown Goode, the famed ichthyologist (fish scientist), Smithsonian museum administrator, and U.S. Fish Commissioner. He managed a large staff of scientists, researchers, and clerical employees to produce this monumental work on American Fisheries.
