Wheeler. The US Army Corps of Engineers surveyed over 361,000 square miles from 1869 to 1879 in pursuit of creating a detailed topographic map of the West. Wheeler's monumental work was published in 7 volumes from 1875 to 1889. The original lithographic print was prepared as part of the survey and was published in volume 5 of the collection in 1875.
